Mental Load Simulator
Everything in the game can be controlled with the mouse
Click around the mart to move your player and clean up boxes or serve customers (stand at the register the customer is waiting by)
Manage your mental load tasks through your phone.
Uncompleted tasks at the end of the day become burnout (shop work) and breakdowns (mental tasks), accrue too much and lose the game :(
Make it to the weekend (every 3 days) and you can discuss assigning some mental tasks to your partner to help reduce your overwhelming workload
How does this game relate to the theme??
This game is about the Unseen labour and mental workload in adult life and relationships
In many relationships this burden often falls on one person more than the other and it can easily become overwhelming for them.
I ran out of time to explore this concept more but had high hopes of implementing common challenges around balancing this workload such as; communication issues, weaponized incompetence, refusal to do certain tasks, etc.
I had a stretch goal of giving the player a choice of different partners at the beginning of the game that would add variance and more or less difficulty.
Thanks for playing our game!
